Raised in Houston, Texas, Jamila Glass attended the multi-Grammy award-winning High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as a vocal music major. She went on to acquire her BA in Film and Video Production from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television with a minor in Advertising in 2005. There she directed and edited several short films, documentaries, music videos, and a television pilot.

Post graduation, she was the 1st assistant director of the short film “Chixculub” produced by Wolfgang Peterson, which was a grand jury prize winner of the USA Film Festival and an official selection of the Tribeca Film Festival. She also worked at Mark Woollen & Associates, a premiere motion picture advertising agency. While there, she was a post-production assistant and assistant editor for such films as Crash, Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, Good Night and Good Luck, Hard Candy, The Last King of Scotland, The Science of Sleep, and Syriana.

In addition, she is the owner of The Cutting Room where she does freelance film and video editing and web design. Her business has given her multiple opportunities to edit national radio spots, short films, and a television pilot, as well as design websites for clients across the country.

Aside from film and television, she has been dancing professionally with the Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC) for the past 5 years, performing in major venues across California. She appeared in Dance Spirit Magazine, commercial and print work for American Apparel, multiple music videos, and the critically-acclaimed new web series –Inst Msgs. Her choreography commissioned by LACDC recently premiered on PBS’ national live broadcast of the L.A. County Holiday Celebration. She also serves as the Social Media Coordinator for the dance company where she combines her passions for film and marketing to reach out to LACDC's supporters around the world. In particular, her work with LACDC’s Facebook presence resulted in a fan base increase of over 150% in a 5-month period and her popular ongoing series of behind-the-scenes LACDC videos have garnered several honors in the non-profit sector on YouTube.

Currently, she is shopping her feature-length script to potential investors. It is a true coming-of-age adventure drama about a young Navy ROTC student’s struggle to balance military and college life.
